Looking for the best brunches in East London? You’ve come to the right place! Whilst I normally specialise in Southwest London, I spent a few years living in East London and still consider myself a local. And as a self-proclaimed ‘brunch’ expert, I sussed out the best spots in the east of London for you to enjoy.

East London is one of the best places for brunch, and most venues serve unlimited alcohol alongside it! So whether you’re looking for bottomless mimosa or just avocado on toast, East London has some of the best brunch venues in the city.

And brunch in London is no longer just brunch. It’s become a meal that we dress up for and make an occasion of. It’s quite likely your plate will consist of a perfectly poached egg balanced on a golden-brown bagel with oozing Hollandaise sauce poured over the top, making us reach for our iPhones to snap the perfect shot before our yolk explodes.

Then there’s bottomless brunch – where venues offer unlimited alcohol alongside their meals. Usually offering prosecco or a choice of cocktail, some are now branching out and serving white wine or beer.

Not all venues offer the bottomless option, so I’ve put a 🍾 symbol to show whether they do or not. Note that the unlimited option usually involves an extra payment of around £20. So, let’s get down to it – the best brunches in east London.

Best Brunches in East London: A Summary

The term ‘brunch’ can be used to describe a meal between breakfast and lunch. In England, it’s now a popular social activity which can take place on any day of the week.

Whilst most meals include some kind of eggs, avocado and sourdough bread, brunch has now extended to pretty much anything you can imagine – pizza, burgers, chips and hotdogs have also been known to appear on brunch menus in London!

Whilst typically served between the hours of 10am-2pm, with rising popularity, brunch can now be an all-day social event. Some brunches in London don’t even start until 4 pm (although, I kind of think this is more of a ‘drunch’ – dinner/lunch).

Unless you’re visiting one of the bigger venues, you do not need to pre-book a brunch. However, if you’re visiting with a group at a peak weekend time, it may be worth booking ahead of time. If you’re planning on doing a ‘bottomless brunch’ (a brunch with unlimited alcohol) most venues require pre-booking.

Below I have listed the best brunches in East London. If you find all of the brunches in East London are fully booked, check areas such as Liverpool Street, Soho and the West End.

Where to stay in East London

East London is one of the best areas to stay in if you’re visiting the city for the first time. Why? Well, it’s still easy to get into Central London, but the prices are cheaper. Plus, the nightlife and atmosphere of East London are like no other, and it’s perfect for young adults and tourists in the area.

Some of the best areas in East London include Shoreditch, Hoxton, Hackney, Mile End, Whitechapel, Bow and Aldgate East. Shoreditch and Hoxton are some of the most popular areas in London for arty, edgy nightlife, with plenty of day raves, vintage markets, eclectic restaurants and fun date nights. If you’re not sure where to stay in East London, stick to the Shoreditch area. Some of the best hotels and hostels in East London include:

Getting around East London

Getting around East London is easy. There are both London Underground lines, as well as overground trains and frequent buses. For reference; Shoreditch, Hackney and Hoxton are both on the orange overground line. All other areas (Bow, Mile End, Stepney Green, Whitechapel) are on the London Underground routes; mainly on the District Line.

There are regular trains until midnight and buses in East London 24 hours a day. The London Underground Central Line and Jubilee Line is 24 hours at the weekend, and there are certain night buses that run 24 hours a day, seven day a week. You can use your contactless card on both trains and buses in London.

Most of the towns in East London are also walkable and close to each other. Just be sure to Google Map your journey at the start to check the distance and timings. Only walk during the day for safety reasons.

Comfortable and friendly, this coffee-slash-brunch spot is perfect for anyone wanting a decent egg or a unique dish like smoked fish kedgeree. Random, but love it.

Fancy something OTHER than eggs? Martello Hall in Shoreditch is one of the best spots to pick up a rather different brunch menu, serving pizza cooked over a wood fire. Ooh la la.

Their weekend brunch serves up everything from truffled scrambled eggs to creamy gnocchi dishes and classic wood-fired pizzas. Mmmmm, drooling.

Not only do Morito serve up a cracking brunch, but they offer some of the best immersive live music in the area. Plus, they’re pretty good for their vegan and veggie options.

🍳 Brunch menu: American-themed brunch

This well-known brunch spot attracts visitors from all over the city. The Breakfast Club isn’t just a brunch spot, it’s the American way of life. Opened by two childhood friends who were inspired by the US sitcom ‘Cheers’, the Breakfast Club boasts it’s a welcoming venue with one mission – to be a place where ‘everyone knows your name’.

Now of course, the Breakfast Club is now famous for its extra large breakfasts and lashings of syrup with queues out the front door. But still, the venue has a warm and friendly feel and hasn’t lost sight of its feel-good values. There are venues all over London, but my favourite is in the self-proclaimed East London capital of Hoxton.
