Best Pubs in Putney: A Summary

Whether you live in Putney or you’re just visiting, there are plenty of pubs to choose from. Most of the pubs in Putney serve both food and drink, so you can either head to one for a Sunday roast, or for a late-night dinner over a bottle of wine!

Most of the pubs in Putney are of a similar price range. In general, it should cost around £20-25 for a meal and drink. A pint of beer is around £6, and a glass of wine will be similar. However, things can change quickly, and if you’re on a budget, check the menu beforehand.

Pubs in Putney are dotted all over, but the majority can be found either along the river or down the high street.

Fancy stepping into local history? The oldest pub in Putney is the Bricklayer’s Arms, which was built in 1826! It’s also been awarded the best pub in Southwest London a few times, so it’s worth a visit!

🦉TOP TIP: Most of the pubs in Putney and Southwest London are owned by the chain “Youngs”. You can download their app when visiting pubs in Richmond to view their menus. Even though the pubs are owned by the same company, most pubs will have entirely different menus.

Best pubs in Putney: FAQs

1) Is Putney good for nightlife?

Putney has great nightlife with many pubs, cocktail bars and even a late-late-night club (Fez). Whilst it’s not as chaotic as its neighbour Clapham, you can enjoy a good night out in Putney. Some of the best social spots in Putney include Tequila Mockingbird (regular DJs and a dancefloor), Revs (aka Revolution), the East Putney Tavern (for live music) and Fez (for a night that goes past midnight).

2) What is the old pub in Putney?

The oldest pub in Putney is the Bricklayer’s Arms. It was built in 1826.

3) Is Putney safe?

Yes, Putney is a safe area of London. As a female, I have never felt unsafe walking around Putney at night or even after midnight. Of course, as anywhere, you have to be sensible and aware of your surroundings, but on the whole, Putney is a safe place to live. Locals are friendly, and there are lots of opportunities to join clubs and make friends.

Nightlife on the high street (especially Thursday-Saturday) can get busy; but attracts a more sensible crowd than its neighbours Kingston and Clapham.

4) Is Putney nice?

Yes. If you’re a nature fan, it’s a great area to visit or live in for all the outdoor and green spaces. Whilst you’re close to Richmond Park and Putney Heath, you’re also surrounded by restaurants, bars, clubs and cafes. In my opinion, it’s one of the nicest areas in London.

  1. Great synopsis of pubs and the Putney area! I’m looking for a pub and alley called ‘Lands End” or Worlds End’. It was the area and pub owned by my grandmothers family. Do you know of it please? We’re only in London for the day. Thank you

    1. Hi Jamie! Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I’m not aware of any pubs in Putney called Lands End or World’s End. There are quite a few called World’s End in London, with the closest being in Chelsea. I hope that helps, good luck! 😀
