Looking for the best restaurants on King’s Road? Chelsea is one of my favourite places to dine out in London and has so many delicious restaurants for you to choose from.

King’s Road is one of the most famous and popular high streets in London. It’s just not so much the dream location for someone who’s on a tight budget.

But, fear not, as I have hand-picked some of the best King’s Road restaurants, with a money guide to match. King’s Road stretches between Chelsea and Fulham, and generally attracts the ‘wealthier’ customers. But that’s definitely not to say that it’s impossible for anyone else to eat or drink there.

From fancy cocktail bars, to modern bakeries and traditional English pubs, you can find something to suit your wallet in no time.

Best Restaurants on King’s Road, Chelsea: A Summary

If you’re in West London, there are some amazing restaurants to choose from. As someone who loves King’s Road, we often try new restaurants in the area in an attempt to find the best ones.

Whilst we love restaurants in areas nearby (such as Battersea, Clapham and Putney), some of the restaurants on King’s Road are elite. Restaurants on King’s Road will be busy on any night of the week, however, the weekend is when the lines may be out of the door, and you may need to pre-book if you want a table at your favourite.

As Chelsea is one of the more affluent areas in London, prices in restaurants are usually at the higher end. You can still enjoy a budget-friendly meal in Chelsea, but you may need to check the menu first.

Getting around Chelsea

Chelsea isn’t as tricky to drive in as Central London, and most people in the area own a car. If you’re visiting for a short amount of time, it may be worth hiring a car to get around to some of the parks, attractions and museums.

Best restaurants on King’s Road, Chelsea

1. Polpo (Italian)

💸 Budget: ££

Is there really anything better than Italian food? Check out Polpo on King’s Road for unique Venetian small plates, fine wines and cocktails. Situated on the Duke of York’s Square, Polpo is the home of a grand Georgian building and offers in and outdoor seating.

It’s the perfect Chelsea restaurant to sit and watch the world go by whilst sipping on your Bellini.

2. Bread Ahead (Bakery)

💸 Budget: £

Although it may be more of a cafe than a restaurant, Bread Ahead is a perfect spot to grab a hot meal and a drink for a budget price in Chelsea. Serving up everything from fresh sourdough pizzas to warm pain au chocolats, Bread Ahead is one of my favourite lunch spots in Chelsea on a budget.

3. Santa Maria Pizzaria (Italian)

💸 Budget: £

Another great low costing lunch spot in Chelsea is the Santa Maria Pizzaria. You can grab an entire meaty pizza for under £12! Plus, the owners of Santa Maria are super passionate about pizza, so every bite takes you to pizza heaven. With ingredients shipped from Naples, you’ll be feeling like you’re mangiare in Italia in no time!

4. Talad Eatery (Thai)

💸 Budget: ££

“A regional Thai concept offering coffee and pastries, homemade artisanal Kombucha and seasonal salads and curries for lunch and dinner.” – Talad Eatery website.

Whether you step into this little slice of Thailand for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won’t leave feeling disappointed. From coconut curries to papaya salads, Talad Eatery is a unique spot along King’s Road and will cost you under £20 for a meal and drink.

5. Villa Mamas (Middle Eastern)

💸 Budget: £££

“You don’t have to leave London to taste a piece of Bahrain!” – Villa Mamas website. Whilst it may be one of the higher-priced options on the list, it’s definitely one of the best.

If you’re craving those Middle eastern herbs and spices, Villa Mamas is one of the best restaurants in Chelsea to indulge in an exotic feast. Join Villa Mamas for lunch or dinner, sip on cocktails (or mocktails) and experience flavours from around the world in dishes such as moussaka and tahcheen. Yum.

6. The Ivy Chelsea Garden (British)

💸 Budget: £££

I know you might be thinking, how can I possibly afford the Ivy on a budget?! Hear me out – it’s actually not that bad. If you fancy a swanky night out for under £50 per head, the Ivy is one of the best restaurants on King’s Road to feel sophisticated, yet relaxed.

The Ivy offers modern British cuisine to cafe-style classics and a range of vegan and veggie options. Sticking by its ‘Chelsea Garden’ name, you’ll be surrounded by lush foliage, Art-deco and a beautiful outdoor garden. The restaurant in itself without the food is quite the experience.

7. Big Easy (American)

Dotted all over London, the Big Easy chain is a perfect place to dine if you’re craving melted cheese and french fries. Inspired by Southern States Gulf coast crab shacks and Bar.B.Q culture, it’s a hub of live music, home-style cooking and even fresh East Coast lobster. Now a local’s favourite, and of course, a home-from-home for any American guests.

8. The Ivy Asia (Asian)

“You’ll find a menu as rich and varied as the diverse cultures that span the vast continent of Asia, with vegetarian and plant-based options to suit all tastes.” – Ivy Asia

If you dine in at The Ivy Asia, you’re in for more of an experience than a meal. From the show-stopping Ivy Asia Black Shell for all seafood fans to Aromatic Crispy Duck, a firm favourite served with imperial caviar.

And it doesn’t stop with the food. The drinks are like experiencing ‘Asia in a glass’, and at the weekend, will be served up alongside the city’s favourite DJs and live music.

9. Bluebird (European)

Bluebird is one of the most stylish places to dine along King’s Road. Whilst it may not be the cheapest, you can drop by for a drink or a starter to experience what the Bluebird has to offer (without breaking the bank).

10. Megan’s (Mediterranean)

💸 Budget: ££

Offering lunch, dinner AND bottomless brunch options, Megan’s is the perfect place to visit with the girls to have a catch-up. With sax players, live music and DJs, surrounded by seasonal gardens and decor, just pick your cocktail, sit back and relax.

Megan’s is a small, independently owned, dog-friendly spot with homely and welcoming service. The Mediterranean decor will transport you to a much ‘sunnier’ place, and you’ll feel at ease as soon as you walk through the doors.

11. Stanley’s Chelsea (British)

A secret garden in Chelsea…

Located just off the King’s Road and inspired by the English country garden, Stanley’s courtyard bar and restaurant offer a comfortable place for guests to eat, drink and relax. Take your pick from a 280g ribeye steak, a BBQ’ed squash or a whole grilled seabream on the extensive and relax in one of the best restaurants on King’s Road.

12. The Hunter’s Moon (British)

For a less expensive option, head to a traditional country pub in the heart of Chelsea. With Sunday roasts, brunch options and an A La Carte menu, the Hunter’s Moon is a cosy, dog-friendly pub for everyone to enjoy.

The Imperial Arms is a welcoming and friendly traditional English pub. With fairly-priced, hearty meals and an extensive cocktail list, the pub is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy some live music.

14. The Phene (British)

The kitchen at The Phene is led by Michelin-trained chef Sidy Kounta and serves a menu of seasonal dishes and modern classics. Check out their incredible Sunday roasts with fluffy Yorkshire puddings and homemade gravy, or enjoy an Aperol Spritz in their sunny beer garden.

15. Made in Italy (Italian)

Another one of the best restaurants on King’s Road is the authentic, nostalgic Italian restaurant built upon a dream of the Amalfi Coast. Boasting some of the best pizza in West London, Made in Italy is a relaxed, friendly and fun restaurant located in the centre of King’s Road.

Walk-ins are accepted for the roof terrace, but you can book a table for Made in Italy here.

16. Peggy Porschen (Cafe)

💸 Budget: ££

If you’ve seen any photos of pastel pink cafes in London, Peggy Porschen is probably one of them. Known for looking like a fairy-tale wonderland, you’ll step into a pink paradise and choose from the aesthetically pleasing cupcakes on show. The cafe also serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner if you want a more filling option.
